It's not an uncommon exercise, but problems about it convert back again at least as far as last summer months, when Oculus co-founder Runescape 3 Gold Palmer Luckey took to Stumbleupon himself to refuse that the Rift was becoming a shut environment. Now Device frontman Gabe Newell has regarded in on the matter through an email published to the the Vive subreddit, in which he was requested whether Device ever regarded doing the exact same factor for its Vive ear phones. (Newell verified with us that he did actually deliver this e-mail.)
We don't think exclusives are a wise idea for customers or designers. There's another issue which is threat. On any given venture, you need to think about how much threat to take on. There are a lot of different types of threat economical threat, design threat, routine threat, business threat, IP threat, etc... A lot of the exciting VR perform is being done by new designers.
That is a triple-risk benefit a new designer developing new activity techniques on a new system. We're in a much better position to process economical threat than a new VR designer, so we are satisfied to balanced out that providing designers development resources (essentially pre-paid Vapor revenue). However there are nsa to those resources they can make for the Rift or PlayStation VR or whatever the designer believes are the right concentrate on VR systems. |
